If you read the credits at the end, they do mention that it's a Kurdish tune.

This singer is OMAR SOULEYMAN. He's from the town of Ras-Al-Ain in Northern Syria. This is his 2005 hit song. He is from a region where there are many Kurds, Assyrians, Iraqis and tribal Arabs and his music reflects all of those styles. This is a slickly-produced song in comparison to the material that is usually issued. There will be an Omar Souleyman CD released in the US on the Sublime Frequencies label in early 2007 showcasing his music recorded between 1996 and 2002. Don't miss it.
